A Quick Look at University of Massachachusetts Lowell's
                   New Critical Listening Room

Designed by Bob Alach of Alactronics, Inc.

These photos are amateur photos, taken when the room was still under construction.

Left-hand Side of Front of Room

Behind the fabric are three ribbon-tweeter speaker cabinets from SLS loudspeakers (Left, Center and Right), Stage Accompany power amps with servo outputs which receive error signals from the cabinets and full-parametric equalizers. The cabinets have been meticulously aligned and the room has been EQ'd with MLSSA.

Right Side Wall, Near Front of Room

Behind the RPG diffusers are oak panels that can be pulled out on sliders to cover the fabric/absorption areas to liven the room for live performance. For critical listening they are withdrawn, as shown. The room is fully wired with microphone, monitor and headphone lines to several recording control rooms, and is an excellent acoustic space for Mid/Side true stereo recording AND multi-track recording.

Right Side Wall, Near Rear of Room

Behind the large fabric area are the rear SLS speakers for the 5.1 surround array.

Rear of Room

The RPG diffusion panels at the rear of the room are evident in this picture. Through the glass is an iso-booth. (Sorry about the flash flare, I said I was an amateur photographer)
